One Night is now available on DVD. The postmodern romantic comedy, in which Valerie is featured as Sheila the snarky waitress, can be ordered from Amazon.

Cyrus: Mind of a Serial Killer will have its UK premiere at the Gorezone International Film Festival in London, October 2 - 3. The thriller is available on DVD in Australia, with a US release expected later this year. It stars Brian Krause, Danielle Harris, and Lance Henriksen. Valerie plays town gossip Tanny, alongside inimitable character actress Patricia Belcher.

Tasting the End can now be viewed in its entirety on Vimeo, with a DVD release to be announced. Valerie plays a no-nonsense hospice nurse in the black comedy short from Chicago filmmaker Ken Cohen.

The first teaser trailer for Raymond Did It has been released on Vimeo. Valerie plays a busy single mom whose son shares a dark secret with a group of teens in the old-school slasher from Rockford filmmaker Travis Legge.

 

 

Ill met by moonlight

In a return to her classical theatre roots, Valerie will be playing the fairy queen Titania in A Midsummer Night's Dream, the inaugural production of Storefront Shakespeare.

Performance dates are June 25 through July 5 in Geneva, Illinois, and July 9-11 in Naperville, IL. All tickets are $10. Individual performances are listed in Upcoming Events (in the box to your right), or you can visit the Storefront Shakespeare website for further details.

 

Spring movie news

The trailer for Soft Blanket Productions' black comedy short Tasting the End, in which Valerie plays a no-nonsense home hospice nurse, can now be viewed on Vimeo. The film is set to be completed in the spring of 2010.

 

Valerie also recently completed filming of Shine Baby Shine, a quirky comedy feature from director Chris Emmons. She's featured as Selena, a music video director who serves as a judge on a reality competition show for inventors.

Last but not least, Valerie has been cast in Raymond Did It, the premiere feature from Rockford, Illinois- based Plastic Age Productions. Buzz is already building in the horror blogosphere for this "old school" slasher movie from writer/producer Travis Legge. Valerie will go before the cameras in June as Mrs. Talty, a busy single mom whose son is one of a group of kids who share a terrible secret.

 

New year, new projects

Valerie has been cast as Mona in My Cousin Radu, a new webseries from 812 North Productions. The offbeat comedy starts filming in Chicago in mid-January.

Meanwhile, you can still catch her singing with your supper.  She'll be appearing at Villa Verone in Elgin for Elgin Opera's Festival of Singers on December 20 and their holiday party December 27 (tickets available until December 21).

Then it's uptown to the Holiday Club in Chicago for n.u.f.a.n. ensemble's "Holiday Leftovers" variety show January 5. No cover!

 

Oedipus and Cyrus

Babes With Blades has invited Valerie to participate in a staged reading of the new play The Last Daughter of Oedipus, by ensemble member Jennifer Mickelson. She will be in seen several roles, including Tisiphone and Jocasta.  The reading, part of the Babes' New Plays Development Program, will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 14, at Prop Thtr, 3502 N. Elston, Chicago. Please join us for this exciting sneak preview of the play that will open the acclaimed ensemble's 2010-2011 season!

In movie news, Cyrus is scheduled for two screenings at the American Film Market, November 5 and 7.  AFM is the premier event for marketing films to American distributors, in conjunction with the AFI Fest. Valerie plays small-town gossip Tanny in the serial-killer thriller, which stars Danielle Harris, Brian Krause, and Lance Henriksen.
